Life Settlement Index Recap - May, 2010 Data

The Amrita Life Settlement Index posted a strong gain based on robust life settlement provider activity in May. The index jumped 28.6% from 418 points to 537 points. The 119 point rise marked the first time the index posted two consecutive months of gains.

Every statistical category except two measured by life settlement provider surveys showed a positive trend from April to May. The frequency in which offers were tendered and the amount of policies purchased were reported to be strengthening by participating providers. In addition, a broadening of buying parameters by some financial institutions indicate a more competitive buying environment. Forward looking sentiment also pointed to a more bullish life settlement market. A slight rise in the expected internal rates of return and supply of new policies being listed were the only exception to otherwise bullish data.
